In Canada's Centennial year 1967 the concept of a Senior's Home for Christians was first raised by an elderly member of the Bracondale assembly. After much prodding on Miss Wilder's part a discussion meeting was held early that year. A Board of Directors was formed and plans were underway. The goal at that time was to provide a loving Christian environment for seniors where Biblical teachings fellowship service and hospitality would be available. An Open House was held on the building site in the fall of 1967. Construction commenced in October 1969 and the first residents were able to move in the following year. The new home was well received by all and by March 1971 discussions were held about the addition of Phase II.
During 1975 the second phase of the building was begun and completed. The final phase of the complex Bethany Manor was added during the early 1980's. This wing included two floors of private apartments for independent residents. In addition to living quarters a swimming pool and large auditorium with kitchen facilities were added on the ground level. |
